DOHA • Around 188 students of Al Wakra Independent School for Girls will soon begin studying through their Tablet PCs as ictQATAR's ‘eSchoolbag’ project took off last week.
Despite growing enrollments over the past five years, more than 50% of Afghan children are still not in school, reports the international relief group Oxfam. Poverty, high school fees and long distances keep many children out of the classroom, and those fortunate enough to be in school typically encounter untrained teachers, poor facilities and poor textbooks.
The first website dedicated to Qatar’s cultural heritage (www.heritageofqatar.org) is online, thanks to an initiative spearheaded by Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMUQ), which functions in Qatar Foundation’s Education City.
